Shoppin', champagne sippin' and sleep ins....

Before any of you think 'that's not a present for your husband, that's for you....' have you ever heard of the term 'Happy wife, Happy life' well, it's our motto over here and has been standing us in good stead up until now and I'm a firm believer that if it's not broke, ya don't fix it! It's Colin's 30th birthday next week and I originally planned a city break away for the weekend but instead we decided we both would rather a family holiday and for us all to spend quality time together in the sun so I planned a little night away for just the two of us at either side.

This weekend we went up to Belfast to go for lunch, have a stroll around the shops to get what we both needed for holidays kid free, buggy free, tantrum free and cutting up other peoples lunches free (with special thanks to nana Susie for helping this to happen!).... then out for dinner and drinks with friends in the evening. As it's a special occasion we stayed in the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Belfast, a first for us and to be honest I had no idea how stunning it is so we both were completely blown away when we walked into the lobby never mind our room.

I think now, in hindsight we should have headed back to the hotel earlier as the setting, vibe and surroundings were so enjoyable that the hotel stay was an experience in itself. We stayed in a dulux room with a corner view of Great Victoria Street from 2 huge side windows, a bath room that the doors fold open so you can lie in the bath be part of the room, ultra modern decor and of the many details that caught my eye, a Nespresso machine so you could enjoy a real coffee.

After shopping I jumped in the bath and then got ready in record time of 30minutes to meet friends and head for dinner and drinks. As the hotel is right in the centre of Belfast, next to the opera house and a 2 minute walk from City hall, we had so much choice when it came to restaurants. We choose to eat in Flame which was a 1 minute walk from the hotel and headed to Sweet Afton after.

Jumpsuit - currently only available in store and on the Mango mobile app - Tropical print jumpsuit £35.99

Shoes - Here  The bars and resturants were buzzing (as always in Belfast) and the sign of a really great night is when everyone forgets to take any pics, so the ladies snapped this at the end of the night, bleary eyed and giddy 🙈

Colin and I heading back to the room to be tucked up in a huge super king bed before 1am.... right now we may both still be in our 20's but the promise of a comfy bed and full night sleep before a day of parenting the next day (with a slight adult headache) means we are happy enough to hand the party baton over to the young kids who know how it's done and take the chance of a super comfy night sleep. (Who am I kidding... we handed it over long ago!)

We woke feeling fresh and headed for a 'made to order' cooked breakfast, fresh croissants and coffee before heading home to our two little babes (sorry I would never make a food blogger, I forgot to take pics!) It's a lovely treat and so refreshing to grab some time together and makes returning back to being 'mama and dada' even *sweeter! (*Depends on the level of adult headache)

Have a great week everyone!
